Bruxism – Teeth Grinding And Clenching
Are you suffering for Bruxism?
Bruxism is an unconscious habit of excessive teeth grinding and clenching of the jaw. Most people are not aware that they grind their teeth as it happens during the night. However, bruxism can occur while you are awake as well. Statistics suggests grinding affects 20% of adults, 80% of whom are unaware they are doing it.
What are the symptoms?
Regular grinding can wear your teeth down and cause discomfort and pain to your jaw. Headaches and earaches are also common with teeth grinding.
Some people may even experience symptoms of muscle tension, stiff jaw muscles, tinnitus and other pain in the neck or back and shoulders.
How can we help you?
Here at Richmond Dental, we will provide a comprehensive diagnostic investigation helping us to give an accurate diagnosis. We will examine your teeth bite and look at your jaw joint and occlusion.
Teeth grinding can also be controlled or stopped using mouth guards, mouth splints and mandibular advancement devices.
