John Carter BDS (Lon) LDS (Rcs Eng)
John graduated B.D.S from the Royal Dental Hospital, London University in 1976 with the final year prize in restorative dentistry. After gaining the L.D.S from the Royal College of Surgeons, London in 1977, he undertook a house surgeons appointment in oral surgery at ‘The Royal’ and at St Georges Tooting before coming to Kingston as a locum general dental practitioner in August 1977. Taking over the practice the following summer he has spent 30 years developing a busy and successful dental practice which prides itself on the high standards of care and the range of treatment it provides and the personal interest all the staff take in all the patients.
John has a wide area of technical expertise in all areas of restorative dentistry and has a particular interest in the more complex reconstructions and cosmetic makeovers that are becoming more sought after by our patients. A founding member of the Association of Implantology in 1988 John has 20 years of experience in placing implants and can always call on other specialists in this and other fields where his patients needs are occasionally best met by a referral. Having arrived as a new graduate with an enthusiasm for prevention it has been a great pleasure to fulfil an ambition and to care for a generation of children, the vast majority of whom we have been able to maintain free of decay in their adult dentition.
In the dento political arena John has been a Chairman of the Kingston section of the British Dental association and Vice Chair of the Local Dental Committee for many years. Not content with local issues he has taken dentistry to a remote area of Rajasthan and this year is going to Tanzania to teach dentistry to local district paramedics in a remote area.
Outside work he has a son and daughter at university and enjoys skiing particularly off piste touring, sailing, travel, walking and gardening.
